Mozzarella-Stuffed Steak with Shrimp Recipe
Ingredients:
For the steak:
- 4 thick-cut sirloin or ribeye steaks (about 6-8 oz each)
- 4 slices fresh mozzarella cheese
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
For the shrimp:
- 12 large shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 teaspoon lemon zest
- Juice of 1 lemon
- 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
- Salt and pepper, to taste
For garnish:
- Fresh parsley, chopped
- Lemon wedges
Instructions:
1. Prepare the steaks:
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Using a sharp knife, make a horizontal slit in each steak to create a pocket, being careful not to cut all the way through.
- Stuff each steak with a slice of mozzarella cheese. Secure the opening with toothpicks.
- Brush both sides of the steaks with olive oil, then season with garlic powder, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper.
2. Cook the steaks:
- Heat a cast-iron skillet or oven-safe pan over medium-high heat.
- Sear the steaks for 2-3 minutes per side until a golden crust forms.
- Transfer the skillet to the preheated oven and cook for an additional 6-10 minutes (depending on your preferred doneness). Remove and let rest for 5 minutes.
3. Prepare the shrimp:
- While the steaks rest, melt butter in a skillet over medium heat.
- Add garlic and sauté for 1 minute until fragrant.
- Add shrimp, lemon zest, lemon juice, and red pepper flakes. Cook for 2-3 minutes per side, or until shrimp are pink and cooked through. Season with salt and pepper.
4. Serve:
- Plate the mozzarella-stuffed steaks and top each steak with a few shrimp.
- Garnish with chopped parsley and serve with lemon wedges on the side.
Suggested Side Dishes:
- Garlic mashed potatoes
- Roasted asparagus
- A fresh green salad
