Butter Swim Biscuits Recipe
Ingredients:
- 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
- 2 tbsp granulated sugar
- 1 tbsp baking powder
- 1 tsp salt
- 2 cups buttermilk
- ½ cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, melted
Instructions:
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 450°F (230°C).
- Melt Butter: In a microwave-safe dish or on the stovetop, melt the butter. Pour the melted butter into an 8×8-inch baking dish or a similar-sized oven-safe dish. Set aside.
- Mix Dry Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt until well combined.
- Add Buttermilk: Pour the buttermilk into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. The dough will be sticky, which is what you want.
- Transfer to Dish: Carefully pour the biscuit dough over the melted butter in the baking dish. Use a spatula to spread the dough evenly, making sure the butter surrounds and slightly overlaps the dough.
- Cut Dough: Using a knife or bench scraper, score the dough into 9 squares (or 12, depending on your size preference). This will help the biscuits bake evenly and create the perfect portions.
- Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 20–25 minutes, or until the biscuits are golden brown on top and the edges are crispy.
- Cool & Serve: Let the biscuits cool for a few minutes before serving. They can be served straight from the dish or gently lifted out.
